More Moor

So obviously summer is over and we're heading towards autumn. Or something. Considering the rain and the REALLY cooled down temperatures... ewww.
Also the handling of umbrellas is nowadays a real challenge. There weren't *that* many people around (bit less than usual, due to summer holidays) at the train stations, but oh my... multitasking standing around or walking AND holding an umbrella is clearly really, really difficult. One's got to be really careful in order not to get stabbed to death by one. :p People...

Well, we had a lovely weekend and Monday - the weather was dry and very hot, but sunny and bright. So we took things slowly and simply enjoyed the days. I was fighting my cold so that left me a bit meh and low in energy. Courtesy to everyone at work sneezing in my direction I was able to enjoy said cold. Grrrr...
On Saturday we were on the lazy side, BBQed, chatted, had something nice to drink as well, etc. :)
On Sunday we went to the Seleger Moor... and I bet you want to see photos. :) I took those with my phone, so they're not exactly great, but there are quite a few, so... under the cut!

Moooooor photosCollapse )

Since this park isn't planted in any way to bloom all year around, it was mainly on the *green* side, hardly any flowers, but it was lovely walking there and also it was peaceful and very few people visited on Sunday since most of them (I guess) went swimming instead. It was *really* hot, but then, if you can bare it, it's good to visit places like this right then, because there are no crowds. Else, frankly said, the masses of people would get on my nerves. We already had that when mum and me visited before - that semi-hysterical bunch of women who seemed to constantly screech *OMGs* galore... ack! And there was no getting away from them back then!
So... this was good and fun. :)
We spotted many frogs in the ponds and later had fries and ice cream and some beer. :)
Back at home we had another BBQ for dinner. :D We're currently living off BBQs because yummy and easy to cook for many as well as for only two. :D

On Monday was another lazy day - my cold left me low in energy again and also it was very humid and hot.
Grandpa lazied around at home while Jana, mum and me ventured to a couple of shops nearby and also discovered a second hand shop in our area. Now it's not exactly super, but we found a handful of things. Which was nice. The owner or whoever that was there was so-so... I just have a problem with people treating you like some nuisance if you want to do something as outrageous as - OMG - pay. That missus kept ignoring us until another missus walked by and asked us if the first missus was looking after us. We shrugged and said no idea, that she'd just kept walking past. Well, second missus told first missus and that one came then in and finally did her job. Those missuses *LOL* and a missus 3 kept hanging around the front of the shop chatting and smoking and then got out some food, so having lunch. Which is all fine and well with me. Only missus 1 should remember that every now and then she may have to do her job. :) It's stuff like this that makes me go... go there again? Ah, nah... probably not.

On Monday we had... cherries!
1.cherrymum

And also berries!
2.berryfurce

And the fluffies were fooling around!
3.furcenaeidechse

And in the evening we played another round of *Game of Wisdom* and grandpa won the nuts in the box in the middle. They were the price for the winner. :D

On an important side note:
My grandpa seems to be doing very well. So it's good to know he's recovered from being sick twice (prior to visiting now) well, it's such a relief. He's 86 now, so things are different than, say, 10 years ago, but that's fine. We were just worried because everything sounded way worse. Which it may have well been while he was sick. Sigh!

So... onwards with today...
Since I'm still having that cold, even though a whole lot less of it, my patience is very low, so... I try to ignore most people. :) For their own safety.
Wobble's already been going on about her favourite subject: food (it really IS a big theme for her, what with all her cakes and sweet stuff she eats). We got an invitation for an *apéro* tomorrow at 5pm, which I won't be going to because: 1. I dislike such *events* because they involve hours of small talk and I hate small talk and am just way too ironic about it :D. And 2. I'd rather go home and spend one more evening with mum and the grandparents since they'll leave early Thursday morning.
La France has run into the office with flailing arms again because no, she can't just walk in. She's always chased by... something. And she's forgotten her badge at home. Which can happen and that problem's solved now. I wonder if she'll watch the Romandie inbox because I'm not sure if so far she's understood the concept of watching her stuff in there. Granted, she hasn't many responsibilities yet, but I'd like her to be proactive. Can't be that I need to check what she has checked in order to make sure anything got checked at all, if you know what I mean?
Of course that new sales rep of mine emailed me yesterday, twice, after I'd informed all my sales reps on Friday that I won't be in on Monday. Because frankly said he's an idiot like that. I have little patience with people who don't understand the concept of *out of office*.
And then I've still an idiot's case in my inbox because said idiot is quite frankly not doing his job and no, I can't help. I haven't even access to that system. I can also explain that another 20 times or so. Won't change a thing.

So far, so today. :)

And on a Happier Note...

Off to the Medieval Spectaculum in Weil in Germany now.
SO glad that we'll end this day on a happy side. VERY happy side.
Some traveling to do (here's to hoping that the air conditioning in the train will work!!!), then a bit of shopping in Weil, then checking in at the hotel, then me thinks a walk to the next Eisdiele (= ice cream café) and stuff our faces with dinner ice cream.
Here's to a wonderful weekend!
I hope *yours* is great, too! :)

Welcome 2013!

Wishing you a wonderful, glorious, positive and magical 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Writer's Block: Stories of old

Who is your favorite mythical creature/character, and why?

Oh gosh, how am I supposed to answer this AT ALL?
It changes all the time thus I can say I like many, a lot. You know me after all... :) Mythology, Legends, and all that. :)
  • Dragons for fire, but basically all the elements (hence my Celtic dragon on my ankle :))...
  • Faeries because how can you NOT be intrigued (and if you aren't they'll knock you over the head or worse, so there you go)...
  • Vampires for the darker side (I doubt anyone's surprised by that)...
  • Unicorns because of "The Last Unicorn" really...
  • The whole world of Lord of the Rings!
  • Mermaids and Nymphs for the waters...
  • Nessie! Never seen her when I was on a Loch Ness cruise, but...
  • Selkies... ever looked into the large soulful eyes of a seal?
  • Werewolves are pretty interesting, too (as long as none bites me. I love wolves, but I spend some amount of time actually epilating my legs. Imagine the frustration of growing it all back within a second - all and MORE. :p)
  • Griffins - they're amazingly beautiful
  • Phoenix... because... there's my element again, Fire
  • Leprechauns... because I've once seen one

And the list goes on...

Earth hour on Saturday, 26th

I guess many will be aware of this anyway, but I thought I'd post it:

Friends Cut - done

Hi everyone

this is a public post - just in case someone who I have included in the friends cut may want to know.
It's the first time ever that I've done a friends cut and I doubt the people I've cut will notice. They've been either not active on LJ anymore, or kind of never interacted with me anyway - not responding to my entries or to my comments on theirs. So I guess the feeling's mutual. :)
I've cut a couple of people only and this has absolutely nothing to do with me not liking someone or anything like that - I just feel if we don't interact AT ALL, then there's no point in staying LJ friends. I don't reply to every entry someone makes and sometimes can't read every entry, either - sometimes I've nothing to say, sometimes I'm too busy, that's just plain normal. But if there's no interaction at all, I don't really see the point. So please, no hard feelings - I think you understand what I mean?
Should someone who I've cut now still want to stay in contact - please tell me, though as said, I do doubt that as there was no interaction at all.

C'est tout. :)
Good night!

Stonewylde Book Series

I feel the need to do a bit of advertising for one of my favourite book series:
Books 1-3 will be out in a reprint in May, June and July, book 4 will be released in August 2011.
All I can say is that I’ve loved 1-3 so far, and they’re a definitely “pagan read”. :D
You can also check out the Stonewylde newsletter:
http://www.stonewylde.com/2011springequinoxnewsletter.htm
Which includes some spring equinox-ness right now as well. :) And if you like it all as much as I do – there’s also a bit of a community (all nice and nuts people, someone once said LOL. You know, them weird pagans… ;D).
